The second wave of COVID-19 has hit India and the country is grappling with unavailability of oxygen, ventilator beds, Remdesivir and other medicines. As per the existing situation, it is required to adhere to the COVID-19 safety protocols by taking care of your health and immunity.
A good immunity helps a person fight the pandemic strongly. How to build a better and stronger immunity? Check out the following points:
Make yogasana a part of your daily routine. Do meditation and pranayama for at least 30 minutes everyday.
You should drink the right amount of lukewarm water throughout the day to stay hydrated as it helps to fight infections.
Balanced diet, proper sleep
Always take food that is nutritious, light and easy to digest. During this pandemic situation, avoid eating heavy, spicy and junk food. It is also crucial to take proper sleep for at least 7 to 8 hours every day.
Use of spices
Regular use of spices such as Jeera (Cumin), Haldi (Turmeric), Lahsun, Dhaniya (Coriander) in cooking will also improve immunity.
Maintain personal hygiene
Wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds using soap. Use homemade masks whenever you step out of home and practice social distancing.
Ayurveda - Chyawanprash
Take 10 gm (one tablespoon) of Chyawanprash in the morning. People having diabetes should go for sugar-free Chavanprash.
Nasal application of ghee
Simple processes such as nasal application of Ghee or sesame oil in both nostrils in the morning and evening can help you to improve your immunity.
Drink herbal tea or kadha
Drink herbal tea or kadha (decoction) prepared using Dalchini (Cinnamon), Tulsi (Basil), Shunthi (Dry Ginger), Kalimirch (Black Pepper) and Munakka (Raisin) once or twice a day. For taste, you can add natural sugar (jaggery). You can also drink hadi (golden) milk one or twice a day (add half teaspoon turmeric in one glass hot milk).
For 15 days, you can take Samshamani Vati two tablets (125 mg) twice a day. If you want to continue after 15 days then take only after getting the advice of an ayurvedic practitioner.
Use of Anjeer, Khajoor (dates), Moong Dal, Sabudana, Soups of seasonal vegetables and Barley will boost your health and immunity.
