This is solely intended to convey the events encountered by me both as a siddha doctor as well as an ordinary patient inflicted with one of the most dreaded and contagious pandemic disease ever encountered in the human history affected in the whole world with in a span of month. As everybody knows, let me go through certain facts and plain truths before elaborating into my condition.

As the world grapples with an unprecedented pandemic of novel corona virus (COVID-19) caused by SARS-CoV-2, that has impacted millions of lives across countries and affected nearly all economic and social spheres. The dimension of this pandemic required an urgent harnessing of all traditional systems available globally. The COVID-19 wave came out in India around March and situation in Tamilnadu was not different. The first case of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu was reported on 7 March 2020. Tamil Nadu has the fourth highest number of confirmed cases in India after Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra. All 37 districts the states are affected by the pandemic, with capital district Chennai being the worst affected. The State government has responded to the outbreak by following a contact-tracing, testing and surveillance model. The counter strategy adopted by the state in dealing with this scenario was commendable and one of the unique features was smart integration of various systems of medicines including Siddha to rope in to get the best possible outcomes. Comparing with other states, Tamilnadu is already excellent in the field of Siddha medicines. Various Siddha fraternities initiated many action plans to combat this pandemic. Siddha formulations like Kaphasura kudineer/ Nilavembu Kudineer distributed to 50,000 people consists publics in high-risk containment zones and frontline workers such as Doctors, Sanitary workers, Police personal etc., to enhance the immunity and as a prophylactic. As per the current COVID-19 status in Tamilnadu, indicates total cases reporting daily are below 1500. There is decline in active cases and death rate respectively. According to my knowledge, effective distribution of ‘Kaphasura kudineer’in containment zones, establishment of 29 Siddha covid care centers created a huge impact in Tamilnadu in the management of Covid 19. Anti-viral properties of Nilavembu kudineerand Kapha sura kudineerwere already well known in combating Chikunguniea & dengue.

First of all, I want to express my sincere gratitude to the strong primary health care setups and spending of enough funds from the government for the health. Another important factor is that, this state could post a robust medical and allied health care worker which is among the best in numerical as wellas in quality.
