A case of a 8 year old girl whose both parents are MD physician, consulted me for her complaint of left sided swelling of submaxillary gland. After taking history, got following picture of patient.

     As per parent's narration, she was active and playful 2 weeks ago with mild low grade fever which was dealt with allopathic medicine and was subsided  Then after 3-4 days she had developed hard swelling of left submaxillary gland with no fever. After further asking about the ODP of case, her mother said when she had fever, she constantly gets up from bed and walks on cold floor of room. ( it was a summer days). After subsiding fever, she didn't even wanted to get out of bed, kind of Low-spirited, less talkative. She didn't want her mother to leave her side.

  I asked parents that did she had any tendency to suppurate? They declined. And said doctor there is just hard painless swelling, nothing else (no fever).

 After referring materia-medica, i gave BROMIUM 200 single dose with sac lac for 2 weeks. After few days her parents said now she has low grade fever and reduction in the size of swelling but she started getting up from bed and doing her things independently ( leaving her mother's side   . I asked them not to repeat the dose and wait. After 15 days there was no swelling!, no fever. Patient was fully recovered and cheerful again!

Stony hardness of gland. Complaints from being overheated. Tendency to infiltrate glands, become hard, but seldom suppurate. Agg. When sitting in warm room. (Boericke)
