Blackish discolouration of Big Toe and Bluish discolouration of adjoining digits

PATIENT NAME: MOHD. GHULAM Age : 83 years Sex: Male Mr. Mohd. Ghulam, 83 years male came to National Institute of Unani Medicine Hospital with chief complaints of Blackish discolouration of Big Toe and Bluish discolouration of adjoining digits (fingers) of right foot, since 6 months. According to him, he was apparently well 6 months back, and then he noticed reduced sensation and bluish discolouration of Big Toe of his right foot. With these complaints, the patient consulted a nearby private practitioner, who refer him to Victoria Hospital, Bangalore, where he was thoroughly examined and the condition was diagnosed as Dry Gangrene secondary to Atherosclerosis and was advised for amputation. The patient refused amputation, and consulted various doctors for the same, but found no relief. In the meantime, Big Toe gradually turns black and dry with Bluish discolouration of adjoining digits (fingers). Then, the patient came to the National Institute of Unani Medicine Hospital for further treatment. Here, we treated him with Irsale Alaq (Leech Therapy) and found improvement with 100 % healing in the affected part.
