Ayurveda Economy Has Grown Up to 90% Says Dr. Harsh Vardhan

The economy of Ayurveda has seen a growth of 90% after the COVID-19 pandemic as this industry has earned global accepted shared Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan. This sector has also seen a surge in both investment and export, he added further. 

Official data reveals that Ayurveda is an industry of Rs 30,000, having an annual double-digit boost of 15 to 20 percent (this is pre-COVID growth). Post-COVID growth has been recorded 50 to 90%. This shows that Ayurveda has been accepted by people from India as well as the world. 

Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that improvement is visible in terms of exports as well as Foriegn Direct Investment. He shared it while speaking on the occasion of the release paper by Haridwar-based Patanjali on the ‘first evidence-based ayurvedic medicine’ against COVID-19. 

During COVID-119, 109 different studies at 140 places have been done by Ayush Ministry. Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that he felt encouraged and positive after seeing the results. The Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan is himself an MBBS and MS having specialisation in ENT. He had practised as an ENT surgeon (mentioned in his biography). He said “I practised modern medicine but once I went through Ayurveda, I can conclude that it has benefits for all. He lauded the Patanjali Ayurveda and the efforts of Swami Ramdev. He said that Ayurveda must be re-established in both scientific and modern ways around the world. 

At the occasion, Ramdev said that all treatment patterns should be harmonised - the traditional naturopathy and modern allopathy.  Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, present at the occasion, suggested that we should offer a good alternative for daily usage products for which the entire country has to pay heavy royalty to the foreign makers. Further, he added that Ayurveda and Yoga have become popular around the globe and people are following.
